MILLIONS OF
TEENS
ARE NEVER HEARD

Welcome to my Teen Bullying Prevention website. This website was created as a school project. We were asked to pick topics in the beginning of the semester of three possible categories that we’d want to do some research on that interested us. Me going into the education profession, specifically as a Physical Education and Health Teacher, I was curious on teen bullying because I plan to be working in the schools one day. The topic assigned to me was Teen Bullying Prevention.
Throughout the website, you’ll get a little inside to the knowledge I’ve learned on the subject matter through some assignments and through some research.
Why is teen bullying prevention even important? Like I said, I will be going into the education profession, and will be working in schools. Teen bullying is something that is more common than you would think. Even when I was back in high school you would hear and sometimes see instances of bullying, whether it be physical, emotional, or cyber in nature. Instances like these can have some negative outcomes. Prevention is the key to helping those outcomes to neve happen. Prevention efforts can help to make the change in people.
I can’t stress enough how important this topic is for me because of the fact that I will be working with kids and teens one day. My field of education, Physical Education, has been a very common class period where some of these bullying instances have taken place. Through my schooling we’ve learned how inappropriate it is to allow activities that target the strong against the week. As physical educators we are to work towards creating an emotionally and physically safe environment for all students, not just our all-star athletes. We go through rigorous training to educate us on best practices in Physical Education. Physical Education shouldn’t be about sports and playing games and dodgeball. Physical Education is a program that does touch on different sporting activities, but as you get older through your schooling, it’s a program that should get you ready to be college and career ready to be able to live a life of life-long fitness and activity.
Also, the college has required training that students need to go through to allow students in certain programs to graduate. We go through a DASA training (Dignity for All Students Act). Here we also learn about bullying and what it looks like and how we need to approach the situation no matter how serious or not it may be.
